sorry this is my first server/networking attempt

the idea of a sever sounds kinda cool (storing all music and videos on on pc instead of spread out on the 3 laptops and one desktop pc)

this is the leftover parts I have layin around

pentium-m 1.7 (with speed step running as low as 600mhz)
geforce 6600 or intel On board video (I was thinkin of using IGP to keep the power lower)
giga bit onboard lan
2x1gb ddr1 2700
xp pro oem (I would like to not have to purchase a new os since this is binded with this pc)
1tb WD earth

the good
it's a low power setup

the bad
only 2 onboard sata1 connections

now my question is this good enough to network videos or is it too slow?
second q will I be able to use win xp pro?
and last question im trying to figure out how to use remote access.. will I have a problem since the other pc's I have are vista?

Get the trial of Windows Home serevr and use it for few months.

If you can Not afford it after few month you can format the first partition and install WinXP.
