I really liked Torchlight - to start. The music is probably the absolute best aspect of the game and its similarity to Diablo.

It eventually became a chore of doing the same thing over and over again without much scenario change. I beat the game with mostly level 15 items and I was level 33 or so. That was the biggest suck-part of it to me. Not frequent enough upgrades so rather than getting good reward for your work, all you did was fight more enemies.

I saw a YT video for TQ... seems similar but looks very boring.

The fella who composed the music for Torchlight also composed the music for Diablo 2.

I downloaded Titan Quest demo and it wouldn't run. Says I have to enable virtual memory. Either it isn't compatible with Win7 or Win7 doesn't enable virtual memory by default (which sounds insane to me) because I never disabled it.

It runs perfectly fine on Win 7 Home Premium here. No problems at all. Never had to enable/disable anything.

I played through TQ back when it was new and loooooooved it. It didn't have a ton of replay value to me, but it was cool. I got the expansion too, but didn't have my old save and never slogged through the game again to get to the expansion part.

Most of the replay comes from the various class combos.
War/Defense is a bit different from War/Storm.
The only downside is many of the abilities in each class are either useless or just plain boring. By the end of the game many classes will only have one or two good active powers and a few good passive powers. The rest can be ignored. Luckily they allow you to buy back skill points, something Diablo 2 lacked.

I think it's a little better than Diablo 2 and a lot better than Diablo/Torchlight. That said all of them are worth playing (Diablo/2 might be a bit too dated for most).

$16 seems high for that game. I think I got it for like $3.

But if you enjoy that kind of game - what the hell.

Yea your probably right. For some reason I seem to be collecting games like these. Torchlight/Titan Quest +exp /Diablo 1-2 +exp/Neverwinter Nights Diamond etc:

And my favorite games, I prefer hard copies instead of digital.

What other games are there with this exact style of gameplay ?

Maybe not exact - but Icewind Dale is all about monster slashing, and it's a much deeper game.

Each year, I usually stock up on some games to get through the winter. Where I live, we get snowed in alot, so......going to check out Icewind Dale.

As for TQ Vs. D2, I'd say TQ is the much better single player game and Diablo 2 is the superior multiplayer game. Battle.net aside, the game just lends itself better to a multiplayer setting and flows very naturally in comparison to the single player which feels like one almighty slog.

Sounds like an ideal game for your situation :)

I heard Nox is a classic in the genre as well. It's on GOG, but if you're looking for a physical copy, you may have trouble as it's an older game.

I own it and the expansion but sadly the last time I played it the game was unstable and kept force quitting to windows around the 2nd act or so. Very fun game just didn't play well with my new computer specs. I should try it again on my even newer computer, see if it was the specific hardware I had then?

These two classes are awesome. I literally annihilated everything with a Haruspex. Only the third act will give you trouble when going to the final boss due to ranged reflect damage from some mobs.

Harbinger - Warfare / Dream (melee)
Haruspex - Hunting / Dream (ranged)

For me Titan Queast was an impressive game. liked more the original one than the expansion. Also someone recommended Torchlight. also try that one, very impressive game and if i remember well is made by the same ppl who also had a role in Diablo.

the game is pretty god for a hack and slash RPG although at one point for me it had become very repetitive.
