The government has every right to guarantee that only current legal citizens of the US participate in elections, and this would be a simple way of doing it. That's a good enough reason for me.

 to non-citizens participating in elections.

No we care, but we are too fat and lazy to do anything about. Lets just keep electing congressmen and senators who have corp interests in mind and not our own. We flip out about the president, but he has no power compared to congress and the senate. Lets focus where we are losing our freedoms, not at some second rate chimp.

God, at least if you're going to whine know what you're whining about. Every citizen in this country already has a unique number: It's called a social security number. Further, go get a speeding ticket by a cop and find out if you can get away with "hiding your identity". No, sir, you can't, and he's going to want to know who you are. We already all have some form of unique ID (theoretically), so picture this as a national driver's license if it makes you sleep better at night.

If we already have it then why do we need a new one? to let the nation catagorize us more?
See post above yours.

i agree with the fact that if all ID's looked the same it would be easier for other states to ID people.

question is if this is good for the nation 100% shouldnt it not have a problem being passed? why does he have to piggy-back it.

edit: we as people of the nation should question everything. and that is why i am bringing this discussion here.

if they do it and you don't like it then move, its actually a decently simple cocept, you elected those congressmen, if the majority of those congressmen say to do something, then you do it, if you don't like what they vote for, you don't vote for them and if the majority feels the same way they won't be back in office

They are talking (and i think set to be implementing shortly) ID cards here in the UK. It has the potential to be a good crime cutter, but further diminishes any feelings of freedom in modern society. A comprimise i suppose.

Oh i notice and care but our government has grown some huge balls because they have noticed that they can fvck us and others of the world and nothing we can do other then bend over and take it. We have no way really to combat the government and dont give me this we can vote bs because that doesnt matter. The government will do what they want to do or make a law allowing them to do it. As long as the fat cats get fatter fvck the people that made them that way.

This is so so sad and so so true. Sigh.

Everyone carries a piece of plastic around with them already, why are people throwing a fit over one that will undoubtedly replace it?

I just dont like discussing it. I mean I am open to the fact that I am christian, but then people might label you and expect you to act a certain way. Who gives a fvck what religion I am, or anybody's is to that point. Thats that persons own business. All talking about religion does is make people mad at each other in past experiences.

Only one thing confuses me: why does this guy want national ID cards so badly? Does he really think it will improve the country? Does he have a financial stake in the concept? This seems like legislation for the sake of legislation; it doesn't come from any sort of need. Everybody should be fighting it for this reason alone. No matter what your political affiliation, can't we all agree that needless bloat is bad?

do you actually think that the woman checking ID at the ticket counter in the atlanta airport has any idea what a real south dakota DL looks like?

I think she does after the first time she sees one. My question: Is this a large enough issue to warrant the time and resources it requires? AKA, do we need this? Unequivocally, no. That's why it's "needless bloat."

*jumps on the bandwagon*

but seriously, i agree completely

it seems every year that the governement tries to find new ways to fvck people over

why are they able to combine laws like this? the fact that the senators are forced to either allow BOTH laws or deny BOTH laws is bullsh!t

what does a national ID card have to do with financing the troops? they need to reform this lil loophole

but on the other hand if it would help keep illegals from voting and/or keep them out of the country all together that would be a VERY good thing i think
