Is this for real or a hoax?

If this is real, it would seem that its more widely known... I havn't seen anything on these forums about it and I'm concerned as my new system specs don't bode well in light of this information. What's the truth?

Either way you look at it, your gonna lose gaming performance using Windows XP/Win2000 over Windows 98se/Me and thats what stuck out the most in the artical. That bug report dosent seem very well investigated. It looks like it could be a mistake on there part. I mean considering the massive amount of people using VIA/GF3 combos on the fourms, including myself, I really dont think you should worry about it. Just my 2 cents though....

Actually, I saw a benchmark a little while ago comparing WinME, Win2k, and WinXP in games. Win2k and WinXP won hands down over ME. I believe they were using an nVidia card.

Of all the Windows version, ME is the lame duck! The fastest believe or not is Win98SE but the least stable. The best compromise is W2K stability and speed wise. XP is right behind W2K.
