Is this flex mode RAM at work?

I had 2 x 1GB installed in my laptop and took a 2GB from my netbook to install to the laptop, as it needs it more.

So I used Everest 4.60 and ran test, first 2x1, 1x1&1x2

Mem
Read 5550 5370
Write 4197 4200
Copy 4204 4149
Latency 84.4 83.5

So is the slight reduction in read and copy the flex mode at work on the PM965 chipset?
Both Everest and cpuz say it is running still in dual channel mode.

Yes.

I'm a little surprised it's actually better latency with the mismatched sizes, but overall, those numbers show how well it can be implemented (basically no performance hit)

Thanks for the confirmation. I know 2x2 is cheap, but going 4GB I will only see maybe 3.25GB with Vista32, and since there is not much performance hit with flex mode, might as well save $40 and keep it as is.

I'd probably personally go 2x2 GB & switch to Vista x64 😛

But your plan makes sense 🙂
