Is this flat panel/monitor broken?

Running a new computer with NV GTX 260, Win 7 Pro on a Samsung 226BW 22" TFT from 2008. With an DVI - VGA adapter connected to the analog in on the samsung the resolution gets up to the fixed/optimal 1680 x 1050. But if I connect the DVI, only 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x768 will work/show up as options. I've tried 3 different NV drivers and 2 different inf/drivers for the Samsung TFT. :|

I guess next step is to test this monitor on another gfx card (have Rad 5850) and maybe win xp. After that it's time to call Samsung, I guess.

Any ideas?

Concur with Khansolo. I have always had the same issue with a Viewsonic LCP. Check your graphics properties and see what your monitor is listed as.

I got a new (repaired) replacement monitor, exactly the same as the one I had problems with, and it was just to connect it, and windows would recognize and run it perfectly via the DVI, optimal resolution was also automatically selected. The other one monitor would only be listed as something connected to DVI. Via the VGA it would detect it as Samsung Syncmaster etc. Now with the new one it does the same with DVI as well.

Seems there was something wrong with the DVI on the other one. The new one runs perfectly. :)

Didn't know for sure, thx guys.
