Check out my system in my profile. I am only getting about 69 fps in quake 3 (timedemo 1)with the image settings at:
1024x768x32
everything all the way set to maximum quality
does that seem right?
im using win2k and the newest drivers
I thought i would be getting a little higher than this
also, all hardware at stock speeds.

It's Win2k I believe

nVidia's drivers are at least as good under Windows 2000 as they are under Windows 98. I don't think that is the cause. Try turning off Vsync if you have it on.

Ok i will try tunring that off
could it have to do with that thing that win2k does where it puts all your sh*t on the same irq? my gf2, sblive, network card, and something else all share an irq.
thanks for the help guys

It is the windows 2000 to blame.

I'm getting 112fps using 1024x768 32bit under NT server 4.0. Same setting under windows 2000...I'm getting 90-95fps.

Yes turn OFF ACPI in Win2000.... its a major performance hit. Go into Device manager and find the ACPI.... update driver and select standard PC. If after you do that you cant shutdown, make device manager show hidden devices.... find MS ACPI Driver in Non-Plug and Play... open it up... dont uninstall, but just go into properties and it has a menu.... choose disable. Then add NT APM&Legacy Support.

And just to let you know I get 68FPS max setting 1024x768x32 with my GeForce DDR in Win2K. I got 66FPS in 98.

A friend of mine has a similar problem with Q3 FPS too ,he has a GTS2 ,same thing in Win 95 or 2000.
Vsync is off BTW ,any ideas anyone?
