I'm having trouble getting my Intellimouse Explorer USB to function under Win98SE. No mouse is detected when installed on the USB port of my Epox 8K7A mainboard. I'm multibooting and my Win2000 works OK. I downloaded and installed the latest VIA filter driver, 1.10, but the mouse is still not detected in Win98SE when plugged into the USB port.
You may have an answer or an idea, but here's my question: I exploded the driver, which is in a zipfile and it created a couple of subdirectories under the directory with the setup.exe file:
\Win2k
\Win98
There's a couple of .sys files in each, but the \Win2k directory has a file called viausb.inf. The \Win98 directory has no .inf file. Does this account for the fact that no USB devices in Win98SE are using the drivers in the \Win98 directory after running the setup.exe in the parent directory? That would be my guess. Thanks for any help.
