Is this drive completely dead?

Like this post I had a bad drive stop XP from booting.

Now, my OS drive is SATA on its own channel, and this was an IDE data drive on a channel by itself.

I'm wondering if XP balked because it was the only IDE drive and it was not responsive... anyway...

I bought a USB enclosure to see if I could get it to recognize, but the enclosure keeps showing up as a DVD drive?

Is that because the drive isn't coming online, so it sees the enclosure itself as a DVD drive do you think?

This enclosure, btw.
