is this considered rude?

sometimes when i have a shoutcast stream playing something may cause the stream to get cut-off. (cable modem loses block sync, router burps, and other things of that nature)

so what i do is put the stream as the only thing in my playlist and turn repeat on. that way if the connection is dropped it automaticly reconects almost instantly,

yay i don't have to put my book down get out of bed and go press the play button again, or when i have the volume up walk back across the hoouse/come inside to press the play button again.thus theres no problom for me.

but is it rude to do this? if something happens on there end server overload or similar that causes an extended disconnect. XMMS will hammer on there server twice a second until it gets a connection.

is some sysadmin somewhere swearing at me for letting it do this or are continious reconection attempts consider SOP for people who run shoutcast servers?

i figured as much but i notice alot of websites make it a point to ask the users not to hammer the download mirrors so i figured there might be a reason for it.

it'd be much easier to make some sort of script to autoban users that repeatedly hammer their servers. it can be a temporary ban or a perm ban for repeat offenders. not sure if this applies to shoutcast servers
