Hellu !

I'm planning to buy this pc: https://m.bol.com/nl/p/acer-aspire-mc605-i5-desktop/9200000014002150/ and i was wodering if its good for gaming.


Since the page is in dutch , here are the specifications:

intel i5 processor
Processor speed: 3.1 GhZ
1 TB Memory
6 GB Ram
Video card : Nvidia GeForce GT620 2048 MB

I think thats kinda much the important stuff.

What i basically wanna do with it is to record a FPS in HD
The game is called WolfTeam and its kinda old and not very high graphics.
Its comparable with CS and Soldier Front.

So my question is if this pc / videocard is good , and if i can do with it what i wanna do.
 
GT 620 is an amazing graphics card for Minesweeper and Solitare! I get 90 FPS at highest settings!

Joking aside, that GPU is bad. HD 7750 or GTX 650, which are several tiers above the 620, are probably the bottom line for PC gaming. What's your budget limit OP? Plus, what resolution will you be playing on?

That's just not going to cut it for gaming. For HTPC perhaps, but NOT gaming.

If you're on a shoestring budget an Athlon X4 750K + HD7750 is very hard to beat for value here in Europe...
 
My budget is just 600 euros :/ this one's 599 haha
I just want to record in HD for the game 'WolfTeam' , low graphics.

I can also get a pc with i7 , 2tb , 6 gb ram but the vid card is on board intel hd 4000 which is terrible.

I found the same pc, but with AMD Radeon HD 8470 (2 GB) vid card. Is it better? And its not just to play WolfTeam, its to record in HD.
 
No, it's still terrible for gaming. The way AMD card numbers work: the first number is the card generation, although in this case generation 8 is just rebranded generation 7 for OEM systems. The second, third and fourth numbers indicate the performance of the card, and *400 series cards are the lowest performing in each generation. *500 series have some potential gaming performance at very low resolutions, *600 series at medium resolution with low details, and it's only the *700 series that have any sort of respectable gaming performance. On your budget a 7750 should be doable if you build your own PC.

That is also not a gaming card. Also, you don't need a dedicated graphics card to record wolfteam in HD.

Question 9 isn't about building it, it's about the WHEN part. I.e. do you want the PC immediately or 2 months from now.

EDIT:

And by "not gonna use old parts" do you mean you have no monitor, keyboard or mouse either? Peripherals = monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers... i.e. everything that is not the PC itself

Is it good ? My parents will pay for the screen, and i got a gamermouse / headset and keyboard. This brings me at 700 euros. Do you guys think its good?

the graphics card in that build is the integrated 8470d
A6-6400K:
AMD Radeon HD 8470D

and the a6-6400k is weaker than the core i5

so overall it has worse specs/performance than the computer in the op. It does have higher quality components though...

edit: with the 7770 it should be ok, the a6 is still a weak gaming processor though 😛

have you tried speccing with the intel budget gaming?

building a computer isn't too hard, mostly you just find the slot/plug that fits and plug it in. The trickiest part is usually the motherboard. You could probably build something better for 700 euros (i5 w/ nvidia 660 2gb). It can take a few hours if you don't know what you're doing though.

If you are going to build it yourself, with a HD7770 gpu, you would be much better off with something like the athlon X4 750 that someone else mentioned already. Most people today do not recommend a dual core for gaming, even a relatively fast intel dual core. The cpu portion of the A6 is very weak for gaming, and the best part of the processor, the igp, is going to waste if you buy a discrete 7770. That athlon x4 750 with a HD7770 would actually be a quite decent gaming system.

If you're not comfortable with building your own system, that's fine. We where all beginners once... 😉

About that system. Other then the odd pairing of an AMD APU and a Geforce GTX660, I don't see anything wrong in that sense. But doing a bit of digging I think I found something much better:

That system is about as basic a gaming system as I'd be comfortable recommending. The Geforce GTX650 is about as fast as a Radeon HD7770. It also gives you a lot of "upgradeability" if you want to swich the GFX card for something faster in a few years. Or perhaps upgrade to an SSD and add more RAM.
