TotalNIC.net's security "policy" is not releasing my domain even though I'm the registered owner. Can they legally do this?
I'm trying to transfer a domain name from TotalNIC (an ICANN registrar) to GoDaddy.com....it had expired so the transfer didn't go through, fine. So I paid an extra $20 for another year to TotalNIC, and tried the transfer again to godaddy after the renewl. However, it got rejected again, this time the domain was in LOCK status - I get an email from totalnic saying that they keep all domains in lock status unless the registered owner wishes otherwise for security, fine so I send them proof that I'm the registered owner and I get this:
I have to wait 150 days even though I renewed it? And I also have to send a notarized letter to Australia to transfer my own domain? It seems they are giving be the runaround because they can't handle loosing customers to a registrar who is half the price.
On top of this they are based in Australia, so it will be hard to file a complaint...is there anything I can do to get them to release my domain?

A domain name must be in the TotalNIC ICANN system for at least 150 days after any monetary transaction before a transfer can be allowed. As per your service agreement with us, if the domain name is within 30 days of the expiration date, or if the domain name is in an expired status, a renewal will be required.
If the domain name meets these requirements, please have the listed registrant fill out completely and submit the attached form as per the instructions on the form. As part of our security, we need to confirm that the registrant is making the request. To do this, we need authorization from the listed registrant.
