Hey. After my problems ( i even change my psu to P1-750X-XXB9 < http://www.morele.net/zasilacz-xfx-p1-750x-xxb9-554274/ > ) with my 7-8 x from a row Lightnings 770 ( cards was crashing in Heaven 4.0 ) i decide to buy another brand of that 770 gtx. So i choose Gigabyte 770 Windforce 3x. But today in google i have founde some strange topics with stability issues with that cards. And now i am scaried again. This problem occurs only in Gigabyte Windforce 3x 780 or 770 Windforce 3x too? I just ordered Windforce 770 3x , but i can change for example for Asus 770 DCII. ? Anybody here with Windforce 3x 770 with good experience without crashing issues?

Can't speak for the 770/780, but my 760 windforce 3x is running like a charm. It's 100% stable, even under heavy overclocking (1190/1300MHZ with no overvoltage), but the "charm" part is really the immense and awesome cooler.

My first GHz had a low speed clicking fan noise.

It also had high pitched coil whine and low pitch coil whine as well, or whatever you'd call that gargled sound when a lot of power is passing through the card.

Replacement is flawless, even passing 1.4v through it. No issues with the PCB making noise and the cooler itself is pretty good both in noise and cooling capacity.

Which GTX you had? 770 or 780 Gigabyte Windforce?

I have two GTX 770 4GB Windforce editions, and I've never experienced any crashes or stability issues unless I had them overclocked too high..

At stock clocks, they are solid as a rock. If you are having stability issues with your Lightning, it might be due to lack of adequate ventilation in your case. The Lightning is an open air design, so lack of proper ventilation will hurt it more than if it had a blower design.

What kind of case do you have them in?

I just put a windforce GTX 760 in a secondary rig, and it's whisper quiet and overclocks very well, FWIW. My impression so far is a very good one.

Its ok? Its enough case for good ventilation?

Do you have any side fans installed? And what is your ambient temperature?

The thing is, both the Lightning and the Windforce have the highest stock boost overclock of any GTX 770 @ 1241 MHz, which is actually really high for a stock boost overclock.

So if the video card isn't being cooled properly, it may suffer from stability problems if it's not getting enough airflow. That happened to me once when I worked on my computer and forgot to reposition a big flobby cable that fits on my soundcard.

Basically, the cable was blocking some of the air to my top card, and that caused GPU heavy games like Crysis 3 to freeze on me. After I figured out what was causing the problem, I repositioned the cable and all has been well since.

You would think the card would have down clocked itself, but it didn't. As long as it can stay below 80c, it probably won't down clock. But that doesn't mean the card would be completely stable at 78c with maxed boost clock speed either.

I even opened case few times and still crashing on Unigine 4. I got 2 fans installed on that case. What you think? All will be ok ? With Windforce 770 and that case? Ahh and max temps was great on LIghtning 770. 72C in Crysis 3 and COD GHOSTS. And 65C on Unigine 4.0. So temps was good on LIghtning 770, but still crashing.

Ok so i installed Windforce 770 x3. Max temps are 79-81 in 3dmark 13 and 79 C in Unigine 4.0 . Auto boost is on 1267mhz. That tems are not too high? All on default .

Well I'm no Kepler expert but your card is like 20C hotter than my 780.

What fan speed is it running at?

Isn't your throttle temp 8xC?

Those temps seem good so it's definitely something else causing the crashes.

BTW, what makes you think it's the GPU that's causing the crash in Heaven? What error code are you getting?

Those are high, but it doesn't look like it's on default. Default auto boost maxes out at 1241 MHz, not 1267..

Auto is on 1267mhz:) I dont change anything. I Look on GPUZ and its 1267mhz. But those temps Oo 79C Unigine 4. And 81 in 3dmark 13. With boost 1267mhz on auto. Rma? Change for another card? Temps are too high damn, even with that boost high.

Look . There is 1267mhz max on auto boost . I check GPUZ. But those temps are not too high? Maybe change for another example ?

Well I've never seen that before. o_O

Are you still having any stability issues? If not, may as well keep it.

The temps are not too high. My 2x780s with the Windforce cooler, one sits at 80c and the other at 89c under heavy load due to the bottom card cooking the top card.

No stability issues with the cards themselves. As soon as I put a second 780 in my system was unstable but I fixed that with a mainboard BIOS update and it has been rock solid ever since.

The only downsides to the windforce cooler is under low RPM, one of the fans is noisy. The second is only relevant if you are going to SLI; they dump all their heat into the case. Without adequate side fan cooling, your top card could crash due to being cooked by the bottom card.
