I need to replace a friend's video card asap. This one is on sale at Best Buy and seems like a pretty good deal especially considering I am able to go right over to the store and have it in my hands today...that being said I don't really see any better prices online anyway. Just want to make sure there isn't something wrong with this model.

THanks.

good card and decent price for a brick and mortar store. It appears to have the 216 core which is awesome if it is true. Just remember to register it with BFG within 30 days for the full warranty. I'm pretty sure we have a very active member here, which I will refrain from naming, that works for BFG and can give a better answer about this card being a "216"

surely there are no 192sp GTX260 cards anymore? Nvidia switched to 216sp even before they went to 55nm so I cant imagine any current GTX260 would have only 192sp. also this BFG card clearly says maxcore 55 so theres no doubt its 216sp and 55nm.

Who the hell would that be? :confused:

If it is the one with "Model: BFGRGTX260MC896OCDE" then it indeed does have 216 cores.

BFGRGTX260MC896OCDE

BFG
= BFG
R = Retail box
GTX260 = GTX 260
MC = MaxCore, AKA BFG's branding for 216 core cards
896 = 896MB video RAM
OC = factory overclocked model
D = revision D meaning these do NOT have the TV output (component/composite/s-video)
E = PCI Express

$160 with no rebates is a pretty darn good deal. Best Buy seems to have pretty decent deals of late. They have a BFG GTX 285 for $270 with no rebates (Newegg cheapest $295 after rebate) and I've seen occasions where their PSU pricing is less than Newegg.

Nice deal. If your friend is lucky Nvidia may release something new while his step-up (er, "trade-up") is in effect.

$5 more gets you a 4890 at Newegg (though it is after a rebate, it's $185 before the rebate) which is a faster part, but if you want to buy at a real store and not wait on shipping or rebates, then that's a great price on that card.

awesome find, I was going to get the same card for 20 bucks more on TD. Looks like its still good too.

EDIT: with tax and shipping, its actually the same price...and I think I will just go evga anyways, already have one of theirs, and they have great support program.

I got mine they only had two on the shelf. This card is actually going to be for me now I am selling my friend my card which is way faster than what he had an 8600gt. His max res is only 1280x1024 and doesn't game all that much so will work out better for the both of us this way since he will be paying way less.
