I don't know if i'm considering buying this or not...mainly wanted opinions on it. I'm 23 (almost 24) so i'm not sure if insurance would be a good idea on this particular car anyway, lol.

But its SOOO nice.

IMO that's way too much for a 2002 that is going to have a high cost to maintain properly. But that's not a scientific opinion.

If you're paying $20k for a 5-6 year old car, I think you're better off accepting that you shouldn't be driving a luxury automobile.

Looks about right for a 530i. Miles are kinda high but still. Insurance and repairs are going to be high but its still a really nice car.

Those cars are solid, maintaince has been very low for us.

You should still be able to lower the price a good amount with those miles.

yea, that was my main concern was the mileage.

I'm also considering a 2003-2005 Mazda6...but i'm not sure how much to pay really. Looks like they range from $12k-15k. I would really like to stay under the $10k range though. =/

The Mazda sounds like a better vehicle for you. They are decent. The Beemer is priced way to high. NADA guide, who traditionally prices cars too high anyway, puts the retail price of this car at $17,875.. If you could pick up that 530i for around $16k or a little less, then it would be a decent deal.

I bought my BMW with 88k on it.
But I also got warranty for it good for another 36k.

You do not buy a BMW without warranty unless you are Bill Gates.

Then why are you looking at a ~$20k car?

While the miles are high, 93,000 on a 2002 is not bad. Remember, if it was bought in 2001, its like 15k a year.

Take a deep breath and realize that spending over your budget for a BMW with 93,000 miles is a VERY, VERY bad idea. There are good deals to be had on Mazda6s with around 36k, '05s and newer even. They look sharp and have the snappiest handling of the japanese mid sizers. It would really be your best bet and save you a lot of headache and stress with the BMW.
Get the baller salary before you sign up for baller car insurance and repair bills.

Excellent advice!

"BMW this week released preliminary pricing details on the BMW 1-Series coupe, which will go on sale in America in spring 2008. U.S. pricing will start at $29,375 for the 128i and $35,675 for the 135i, with a fully-loaded car costing another ten grand on top of that."

I did...and mine is 8 years older than the one OP is looking at, and had ~82k on it when I bought it. The maintenance / upkeep has not been anywhere near what everyone is saying.

The only major repairs (not including basic maintenance and wear items) that I have needed in 15 months and 15k miles were a fuel pump (~$450) and an oil separator (~$55). If you can turn a wrench yourself and know where to get good used parts (especially big-ticket things), you can save a fortune on repairs, should they be necessary.

I made sure to find a car that was well cared for though...if you get a neglected / abused car, it could very well turn into a horrible money pit. If it is pushing your budget just to pay the purchase price, I would pass.

You going to pay cash for this thing? Making payments on a 5 year old car with 93k seems stupid.

If you did have 20k there are just a nice cars out there with less miles for the same price.

Not to seem callous, but arent you going through a divorce right now? Might want to wait until all that is finalized before making a purchase like this.

if you were to spend that much on a 2002 bmw, definitely look for a 540i 6MT.
