Is this cable management good enough?

First build, just wondering if this cable management is good enough?

Will be getting cable ties tomorrow for the mobo, gpu, cpu and case headers which should make it a bit better.

Thoughts?

To be honest, it looks pretty messy. Sleeved cable extensions should go to the adjacent rubber grommet, not tucking everything at the bottom grommet. Not sure if the PCI-E power cables extensions are black or grey due to discoloration caused by the flash, should have some symmetry in color. The top EPS connector should be closer to the socket and tuck any cable slack behind the motherboard tray. There's not much benefit in having the PSU inverted. Revert it to the normal position and the cables have a shorter path to the grommet below.

Take more time to get cable management right and neat. It will reward you with easier periodical maintenance and dusting.

Tip: always route cables via the holes closest to the connectors meant for them

"good enough" IMO means that the system will perform within desired parameters.

This is not good enough, because the fan on the top can easily catch the cables up there, and bad juju will ensue.

I strongly suggest getting a wire fan grille for the inside of the fan on the top, AND the cable ties, at the very least, with the aim of keeping all the wires from the moving parts.

Some of my own systems are just basic cable management, keeping the wires from the fans, and look like a mess otherwise... like the core 2 duo I am on now, which is my bench system to work on hard drives and the like for other systems.

My main systems though they all have very neat wire routing and management.

Yes, this is a genuine ISA AMD 386 40MHz.

lol so neat, you would cry if you saw the inside of my case its so messy. I CBF with proper cable management in mid tower tbh, next case will be full or super atx and I will have some nice cables.

For that case, I think you could improve a lot.

This is mine.

It would look 4-5x better if my stupid 6950 didn't have the pci-e connectors in the front

Either way, take your time.

I tried that for the mobo, cpu, gpu extensions and it was going to bend far too much :/

The cables themselves are flexible. The sleeving will stiffen the cables but it will still be quite bendable as long as the cables are able to. We're not going for a 90 degree bend here, just do a soft bend. Length will usually be the most common issue with EPS connectors but you have extensions, so you have sufficient slack to do a tighter bend.

Definitely better! I would route the case wires via the hole where all the PSU cables go, if there's space. But it's fine like that as well :)

That a great improvement. I would take your multi colored PSU cables and permanent marker them black, also the power/switch/hdd connectors are small enough to fit where you use the zip ties right below the motherboard.

But, very good improvement.

Man: That looks like my old Cyrix 386DX40 upgraded to an I-Will P1 - That can't be a VISA Video Capture Card in there - Is it? - LOL

Great Case for the time by the way - Love it - She's a Keeper.

Wish I had a pic of my Asus P3V4X Slot 1 in a Midi ATX Tower running a Celron 1.3 Taulatin with a 9800XT @ 1800Mhz's - Still boot her at times.

Yeah, a lot better than it was before. But if I had to nitpick another detail would be that you swap the rubber grommet position of the PCI-E connectors with the front panel connectors. That way, the PCI-E cable sleeving is parallel to the 24 pin connector.

The best you could do is good enough, the next time you build - it will not be. Each one gets better as your demands increase with your skill level. When I see a computer I build a few years ago......what was I thinking. Although, at the time I thought they were pretty good. I'm sure that will always be the case. Satisfaction has a limited lifespan. Isn't that why we do this?
