Looks pretty good to me, if you can't go AMD X2.

Is that a Pentium 830 or 930? The 930 would be better of course. Test the integ audio yourself, you can always add a sound card later if desired. What mobo is that, is it a 945P chipset?

which one of these has Hyper threading

Neither has hyper threading, but it is a dual core (hence the Pentium "D").

The 900 series tend to run cooler, and has 2x2MB cache, while the 800 series has 2x1MB cache. Only the ungodly expensive Pentium D's have HT.

i didnt look at a psu yet which one would be enough. i dont want any of those 'need more power' power type stuff..
i cant show u a specific case since i actually had to go to a store and not a website (they dont have any Ebays or New Eggs here)
how important is HT
would a single core processor give me better performance???

A dual core cpu w/o HT is like a single core cpu w/ HT on steriods.

For single threaded apps a Pentium 650 (single core 3.4Ghz) would be faster than a Pentium D 3Ghz. But when multitasking and for multi-threaded apps, a Pentium D would slaughter a Pentium 650.

I would go Pentium D. It's fast enough, and if you are really worried about gaming performance, then the power is in the video card, much more so than cpu. I game with a Pentium 630 (single core 3Ghz) and a 7800 GTX. It's fine, don't worry about gaming performance.

For that price any CPU today should be dual core.

As far as the PSU goes see if you can find Forton-Source / Sparkle, Seasonic, Enhance, Zalman, or Aopen; something in the 350-400+ wattage class. If you can't find any of those names Antec or Enermax would be ok as well.

Does the motherboard you are getting have onboard lan?
most do these days and that would save having to buy a card

How much more would it be to goto 2 gigs of memory?

I use a Pentium D 820 in my main box with an ATI x850 xt and have no complaints at all :)
