So I saw this build on mfenn's thread and I thought it was amazing, I want to know if you think this computer is right for me (for my needs)

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
R: Gaming, video editing and some 3d (a little bit)

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
R: 1-2k, preferably 1.5k so I can buy some sweet accessories.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
R: I'm from Canada, will buy from here and the US

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
R: No

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
R: Nope

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
R: I have been looking at threads on many websites only recently, I still am new to all of this.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
R: Yes, I guess. Need some clarification on overclocking.

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
R: 1900X1200 I guess.

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
R: Preferably asap, can wait.

10. Don't ask for a build configuration critique or rating if you are thin skinned.
R:I'm here to learn after all.

Here is the build:

Case: Good.
CPU: Only buy the 2550k if it's significantly cheaper than the 2500k. It's not, so don't. Consider a 2600k if you do a lot of video editing.
Cooling Fan: Good.
Motherboard: What's that board got that this Extreme3 board ain't got that you need. (Yes, please list what you need from that board.)
Memory: Right. Make sure it's 1.5V or less.
Video Card: I'd just stay away from nVIDIA until their next-gen Kepler comes out. Which could be very soon (2-4 weeks): can you wait? Otherwise, can your budget fit a Radeon HD 7950?
Power Supply Upgrade: Consider a lower-power XFX or Seasonic or Corsair with any card but the 570.
Hard Drive: Around here we recommend the Crucial M4 or Samsung 830.
Data Hard Drive: Good.

Don't buy 2550K. It's usually more expensive than 2500K and lacks the integrated GPU (good for backup).

What does the Extreme4 have that you need, compared to cheaper Z68 boards like Asrock Z68 Pro3 Gen3, Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3, Asus P8Z68-V LE, Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3?

New graphics cards are to be released very soon (AMD 7800 series, NVIDIA's 600 series), and 7900 series is already out. Maybe consider the 7950 if you must buy asap? Compare to GTX570: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/550?vs=518 + better overclocking and lower power consumption

The power supply is overkill. Why 800W? GTX 570 needs only 550W-650W.

Crucial M4 is a better SSD than Kingston. Less expensive, more reliable, faster where it matters (IO performance, small reads).

How much are you paying for the hard drive and what model is it?

The 2600k, and the 7950 I can afford.

Basically, I really am not good with motherboard and pieces in general, if you tell me that the one you suggest is better, then I shall go with it.

So a 550-650w XFX / Seasonic / Corsair for the PSU, noted.

Well, It's just that I really want a computer and now that I can really afford it I want it Asap, but I can wait for the new graphics cards to come out. No rush.

210$ for the hard drive (I think it's that one)

My thoughts exactly.

$210 is way too much to be paying for a 1TB drive. Check out this Seagate 1TB drive for $110 (NCIX link only because newegg.ca is wigging out right now).

As for the GPU, if you are OK waiting on that part, it is easy enough to get the system up and running with the IGP. Then drop a HD 7900/GTX 600 in once the 600 comes out and forces AMD to stop their stupid pricing policies on the 7000 series.

Oh 210 is the SSD, I'll buy the seagate then.

I guess I will wait for the new cards to come out before buying anything, thanks for the advice.

Oh, easily. A single 7950 consumes about 140W at stock. You can run 7950 crossfire on the PSU if you want, and even have room for overclocking.

I'd settle for the 2500K, I think the 2600K is more useful if the PC isn't for any gaming but solely video editing and other stuff that benefits from hyperthreading. But if the 2600K is in your budget then it's in your budget.

IMHO, you'd be better off just saving the $100 differential between an i5 2500K and and i7 2600K. If you must spend it, do so on a nicer HSF, more RAM, or GPU upgrade.

Oh it's not a big deal, and it's partly personal preference too. 2600K is faster but not $100 faster - still some may prefer to have that extra speed. Who knows maybe you'll start making and encoding a lot of videos and the extra threads can definitely help
