I saw these on the newegg one days sale.

Gigabyte ATI RADEON 9200 128MB for 68$
CHAINTECH Geforce FX 5200 128MB DDR Video Card RETAIL BOX for 63$

How decent are these cards ??? I have a GF3 TI200 64 MB.... am I going to see a performance Increase at all???

I have an Athlon 800 that my Gf3 is in and I am wanting to buy a new card.

They won't give much of a boost. Bump your budget up to around $100 and look for a GeForce4 Ti4200.

Or $150 and pick up a 9600Pro (hopefully with free copy of Half-Life 2 attached in coupon form). For $200 you can get an FX5900NU, which will kick the crap out of any of those cards.

But I'm not sure I'd even spend $100 for a Ti4200. Save your money and wait for lower prices during or after the holiday buying rush. 🙂

Thanks, that is kinda what I was thinking.... I am having a LAN party Christmas day and need another 3d card for a 4th machine and was debating whether to spend the 60 bucks on one of these two cards to just stick in that machine or do I wait and buy a better card for my flagship box and then put the GF3 in my other machine....decisions decisions...🙂

hang tight dude. wait this one out and i'm sure the holiday season will have even lower prices for your upgrade needs. as far as FX5200 and 9200 is concerned... meh, these are no better than a ti200.

definaly get a new card for your flagship machine and use the ti200 in the 4th rig. settle at bare minimum a ti4200 and a 5600 ultra level card when you upgrade.

Those two cards would probably be a downgrade in some cases. Either hang onto your current card for a while longer or pay more for a larger upgrade.

Dude with the money you're willing to spend, don't bother upgrading. I would be going for 9600 XT or 5700 Ultra at least. Thats around 200 dollars.

If you could clock your ti200 to higher levels like a ti500, then the fx5200 or radeon 9200 are worthless upgrades. My ti200 can run at ti500 speeds, and it is still good.
