I've read all that stuff about Bose as well. I don't care what they say, the tiny footprint of the Companion 3s and their pretty good sound (compared to my Logitech Z2300s) AND the fact that I can get the Companion 3s for $50.00 is good enough for me. I would never spend $250 on Bose speakers, but for $50.00 they're ok.

Know what the probelm with those Bose speakers is though? Whether they're $250 or $50, your Logitech Z-2300s are still better speakers!

I've never heard anyone bash an Ionic Breeze that actually owned one... Just al the fanboys that liek to quote Consumer Reports because they think that whatever CR says must be true.

I've had one for years and I love it. If you think they don't work you can come over to my house every week and wipe all that black crap off the blades for me.

That's because we don't need to have owned one, King "Holier than Thou". You love it, fine, I can wipe black crap off my game shelf but that doesn't mean its purifying the air. The Ionic Breeze has not only been PROVEN to do next to squat as far as cleaning the air goes, it also releases ozone. Read up buddy. Modern science > "I love my ionic breeze/it makes black crap". Keep it if you're fine with getting cancer.

Well, I've listend to the Bose and they sound just as good as my Logitech Z2300s, so why are the Logitechs better?

So I guess, I'm not getting an IB then. Anyone want my $100 SI gift certificate? I'll take $85 via PayPal for it.

That's not good, especially when most nice days here in the desert, we have bad air quality warnings from the NOAA (because of all the dust and sand in the air.

Dude, running around your room with toilet paper taped to a wooded frame would filter your room more than the ionic breeze.

i have an ionic breeze with the ozone filter. The air is noticably fresher and smells better

I also run a box fan with a furnace filter behind it every once in a while to help things out... i have the ionic breeze on all the time, and I run the box fan when I'm around. they are in opposite corners of my room...

I can get two of the "Professional Series Ionic Breeze Desktop" model, new for $100. These are the models with the "Ozone Guard". I would be putting each one in opposite corners of the room, but since so many people think they're crap, I'm having second thoughts.

How is SI's return policy? I guess I could try them out for a week or so and see how well they work.

so.... does anyone have an idea of a great, not super-pricey, air filtration unit that acttually does the job?

(2) $20 box fan + $10 furnace filter at walmart, one at opposite corners to circulate the air

I like how they pretend that it cleans air just because the particles in the air that touch it MIGHT be inclined stick to it.

Well, I went ahead and used the $100 off of $200 purchase + my $100 SI gift certificate to purchase two of the Ionic Breeze Professional Destkops. Total came out close to $150 after shipping and tax. I'm gonna try them for a couple of weeks and if I don't like them I can return them for full refund.

I like my Sharper Image air purifier. And I have no defensive bias working against me, because I didn't by it.
My allergies are a lot better. I never assumed it was reduce dust. But it's good at the allergies. Also good, because I eat fast food in my room, the odor is gone in 15 minutes after removing it from the room. Before, it took hours.

I know these things are probably better at cleaning the air of odors rather than dust. Also, that was done with the ozone right? The Professional series doesn't release as much ozone as the earlier Ionic Breeze models so it may not be as great at removing odors. As for reducing the amount of dust in my room, would it be better to place these things (remember they're the "tabletop" version) near the ground or on top of a table / nightstand?

..haha. probably.

Well, I got one of those Tabletop Professional Series Ionic Breeze units. Tried it out for a week and ended up returning it. It definitely did help with my allergies (left it running on high whenever I was not in the room), but the odor it created was so strong that I couldn't sit in my room without letting the odor ventilate for a couple of minutes, out into the hallway.

I got one of these:

and one of these:
http://holmesproducts.com/estore/produc...alogId=3&CategoryId=1138&ProductId=457

Got both at Wal-Mart at half the prices listed on Holmes's website. Wal-Mart also had both of them in a silver / dark grey color (not that the color really matters). I have the mini-tower unit on one end of my desk and the other unit on a bookshelf near my bed. I've had them for a couple of days now and they do get the job done. My allergies aren't as bad in the morning AND there's less dust accumulation on my desk and on the bookshelf and on other surfaces in my room.

I own an Ionic Breeze and used it for almost a year, its been sitting in my closet for almost twice as long. I was a smoker so it worked well for me for a while, but after about 8-10 months of use it started making noise. A loud static noise would come from it every 3 or so seconds, and it happened so often that I just had to unplug the thing. So yeah, total waste of money for it, good thing my friend worked there so I got it for half price.

..mine does the same thing. It's high voltage internals have become dust fouled and is now a arc hazard. That noise you hear is internal arcing and dumps a ton of dangerous o-zone into your breathing space. Mine went from the closet to the curb.

you needed to clean the two conducting lines inside the unit that runs down the center. It's fairly easy to open the unit up from the bottom and clean the lines with either some rubbing alcohol or water.

I like my unit. To each his own.

It's from the sharper image, so it's likely overpriced and will break with in 1 years time. I wouldn't say I'm trolling, because to be perfectly honest, I've never heard anyone bad mouth sharper image (maybe cause I didn't ask?) but I've come to the conclusion that they simply make worthless garbage, only thing I can think of that I have from them that is useful/works is a scale that measures bodyfat. Otherwise their airfilters and sh1t are just so worthless, it's not even funny, everything else they've got either is a nice but breaks or is nice but useless.
