Hello

This started last week and ended this week.

1st coworker interviewed for a position and was offered a job. He took the job but the offer was recinded. He didn't know why. So today, he finds out that one of the coworkers sitting just next to him goes to her manager, talks to him about the position, the manager talks with his manager, they both strong arm the interviewer and made her recind the position to the 1st coworker. Now wednesday, 1st coworker finds out that the 2nd coworker has the job, she never let the 1st coworker know that she was secretly interviewing for the position. She said that the management didn't want her to tell the 1st coworker.

Is this backstabbing by a coworker ?

Thank You

Wow. I would immediately start looking for another job if that happened to me.

Backstabbing by the management. If she was more qualified for the job, more power to her.

I'd bring that up to HR and the legal team (if your company s big enough to have one). Definitely would like to know how this turns out. heh.

The responses are overwhelming, so let me make sure I understand the issue.

2nd coworker interviewed for a position and got the job, but didn't tell 1st coworker about trying for the position?

How is that backstabbing? I wouldn't tell any coworkers if I was trying for another job.

2nd coworker interviewed for the position after the 1st coworker got the job and the job offer was recinded from the 1st coworker because of the manager and the regional managers help.

No. The only one looking out for you is yourself. All is fair in love and war.

I understand. The manager and his manager convinced the interviewer to select the 2nd coworker instead of the 1st coworker.

So once again, what did the 2nd coworker do wrong? Nothing.
