Is this Athlon64 any good?

That's a 2.2GHz 512k L2 90mn core. That should be a decent overclocker you have there. 😎

05-04 I'm not sure if that's a "preferable" date though.

howd you decipher that???

I am searching the web for info, but the only one answer I find is that it might not be so good. However, I can not find any answer for sure.

ADA3500DIK4BI 3500= 2.2 GHz 512k L2 core BI= 90mn Winchester
CBBID0504APMW Self explanitory 😉

IIRC CBBID Winchesters are moderate overclockers. Some ppl can't get 2.3 GHz, and some reached 2.7 GHz with that stepping. So it's pretty much hit and miss.

The earlier steppings were more consistant overclockers though.

CBBID usually not the friend of an overclocker. i know people who couldnt get 2.2 on a 3200+ CBBID. some work well though.

I have had mine running on 2.4, but for some reason I can not post with any setting above 219 in my bios, although I can get a bit over that (225, stock voltage) if I use A64Tweaker instead. Seems I suffer my usual luck, I always manage to get the parts that are not working correctly, or are the worst for overclocking 🙂

It's not as if the 3500+ is a bad CPU to begin with 😉. And 2.4 isn't bad either...you're running the rough equivalent of a 3800+ for $100 less. 🙂

I have followed the overclocking guide that is a sticky in this forum. And, well, 2.4 is not too shabby. I agree, there is not really any need for me to overclock it. I just want to see how far it is possible to do it.
