He ordered a slot A 750 thunderbird and we got the package today and on the cpu it says "AMD Athlon". It should say thunderbird, correct? Please respond ASAP.

"Thunderbird" was the code name. A "thunderbird" is really just an athlon with on-die cache, & they both carry the Athlon name.

I'll pop it in his comp in a few minutes he was burning a cd. I'll feel really dumb if this a thunderbird. Thanks.

Both are called Athlons, the TBird's real name is Athlon much like the Coppermines real name is still P3.

Read the little numbers on the top of the cartridge (opposite side from the SlotA connector)

If it starts with AMD K7750 it's a Classic.
If it starts with AMD A0750 then it's a TBird.

Noraki: Thanks! Its definatley a thunderbird. BTW does the T-Bird 750 give off alot more heat than the athlon 500 or are they pretty close due to the die shrink?

I'm not really sure.

I think they are pretty close, and if anything the Tbird would be lower, but I'm not an expert in that.
