I know that you can't have links to auction sites such as eBay, but where does half.com fall in? I guess what I am asking is: Can you post a thread in the For Sale/Trade forum about an item you are selling on half.com?

I would assume no, but I would like to know for sure.

I don't see it as a large problem so long as he can stop the sale on half.com should he find a buyer here. If there is a question as to whether he can guarantee that or not, I'd vote for an immediate lock. It's not worth the trouble it would cause.

Is that the reason that eBay links aren't allowed, because the auction can't be stopped? I thought eBay auctions weren't allowed because they went against the auction clause. You can stop eBay auctions but that requires you to cancel all existing bids and give a reason (one of them being "item is no longer available").

My knee-jerk reaction is to say that half.com auctions should be allowed since there's a definitive asking price that's first come, first served. But I don't like the entire self promotion scheme on the forums though, like you find eBay links in newsgroups and on mailing lists.
