member Toetagger is selling an item in FS/FT
AWU-120 Addtron 11Mbps Wireless Mini USB Adapter $40
link to FS/FT post

i emailed him and said i was interested, asked if shipping was included etc, and this was his email response:

I currently have this item for sale on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2040308254. If it doesn't sell, I will Email and we can talk about a deal. There is an additional $8 Shipping on it. If you buy some more of my stuff, I might make shipping free so. Thank you for your interest. Martin

my personal feeling is, if you post an item on AT FS/FT, you must be prepared to sell it if someone meets your price. or am i wrong here? personally i think you should not be allowed to post items in FS/FT if you are simultaneously listing them on egay. clearly it is impossible for AT mods to track this, but i do not believe this situation is even mentioned in the forum rules, and i think it should be!

thanks, wayne

It's the same thing as advertising in two different news papers, then giving the run around to the person who called from the paper that's published in the 500 citizen city, saying that they're going to wait until they hear from people in the 5,000,000 citizen city.

Not the best practice, but still acceptable IMO.

The original thread was started on July 13. It is now July 23. I have no idea how long he left the item in FS/FT before he went to eBay, but I can understand why he did. Over ten days and no sales. The only thing that I think he should have done is updated the thread.

He also stopped bumping his own thread after 5 days. Then it sat idle for 5 more until another member contacted him about an item.

PM me with your zipcode and quantity, and we can talk from there. The more you buy, the more you save on shipping!
I agree with them but he sounds like a dealer.

He's not really doing anything wrong by listing the item on eBay, and at least he is telling the truth about the status of the item. ;)

However, were it me, I'd've posted something like "Gone to eBay" next to the item description and removed the price; I wouldn't post the link to eBay though as that would be against the rules.

So yeah, the seller should edit his post, but aside from that, nothing wrong.

EDIT: As oldsmoboat points out, yes, that little comment in the PM does lend one to believe he might be a dealer.

I was just thinking the exact same thing. Anyway we can prove this?
