Upgraded my 3000+ to 3400+ , both 754. The first thing noticed is that idle temp jumped from 33c to 50c! Although zalman + arctic silver 5 is used. The previous 3000+ is oced to 2.2G(220x10) and the 3400+ is a little oced to 2.53c (220x11.5). Running prime95, the temp reached 64c! Is this 3400+ ok? Or did I miss sth when scrach off Arctic Silver 5 and reapply it on Zalman? btw, it is hard to oc this 3400 to 2.6G(220x12) -crash immediately. Thank you for your opinion.

mobo: asus k8n, cpu: ada3400aep4ax, new castle, cooler: zalman cnps7000 Al-CU with Arctic Silver 5.

It would probably be a good idea to clean the CPU and HS off very well with some isopropal alcohol. Reapply the AS5 and see if things improve.

I used only towel to scratch the AS5 till the ZALMAN is shining. Not good enough? thanks for the input.

Not good enough, get one of Arctic Silver's ArctiClean kits to clean off the HSF and CPU, and then get back to us.

applied 91% isopropyl alcohol for two days, but the temp still shows 47-52 under normal use (like web browsing and light app). Stand by for a while, temp drops to 42-44c, and quick jump back to 47c when the monitor is trigger.

I did find that in another thread people is complaining the same temp problem, is newcastle supposed to run at 47-52c in idling or light app?

No it sounds a bit too high. It could be your mobo temp reading is not right. Try flashing to the latest bios. Nforce 3 mobo's are known for temp readings being too high. Flashing to the latest fixes this.
