I have this happening every once in a while and it is very annoying. It can even happen after a format.
I have windows set up like a web page although it's not checked in "view my active desktop as a webpage". I have the little icons on every folder etc. Once in a while I'll reboot and everything is back to as if didn't have it as a web page. Only the folders and directories that I have opened or used lately..the ones I haven't touched in a while are still as they used to be ie: as a web page. What could be the cause of this?

In Windows Go to : View- As a web page. If you have some desk top theme your page changes from just a bunch of folders left to right into an icon from the theme on the left and the folders on the right of that. If you have all tyour folders set up like that is what I mean. Sometimes I'll reboot for whatever reason and the "view as web page" will be unchecked and all my folders and directories are back to being just lined up left to right. But if I go to some folders that I haven't opened in a long time, they'll be stiill as if they were " as a web page". Does my question make sense now?

Ah.. I get it now. Have no idea what could be causing that. Though it sounds like a known issue type of problem.

What OS are you running? And have you tried Microsoft Knowledge Base ?

Win98 SE.....I'm lost at that link.. I tried " view settings chnge after reboot,,,nothing relevant .... also "view settings change" and I got 7 million vague references to settings or view. I never was a hot-shot for search inquiries!

If you check "view my active desktop as a webpage" does that hold your icons?

I try that whwn this "bug" arises but I find tha my windows close slowly in steps if you understand what I mean. Like top third of window closes, then second thiord then last third. It's bot quite that slow nut it's not a Zip and it's gone like ususal. I've never checked it this way before the bug arises which I should becuse perhaps it only closes my windows like that after the bug has hit . Who knows what in windows....I ususally just format C: and re-aooly an image but I would like to someday find what I do to cause this. I was thinking hardware-vid card. When I run Win Doctor....I get a few elcid or something problems....I just click on "repaair without really knowing what they are....maybe I repair stuff I shouldn't?
