Ive been working out for over 7 months now, lost 70lbs, but have now hit a wall over the last month or so. I used to have a protien bar and shake for breakfast which seemed to work but Ive switched to what I think is alittle healthier. Now Im having a Strawberry/banana smoothie. In this Im using:
1 cup 2% milk
1 banana
1 cup strawberries
1 scoop vanilla protien powder
1 cup yogurt

Is this something that will help my metoblism? I have noticed that I am staying full longer with this combo. My only concern is the amount of suger. Even though I am not adding any the the fruits are fresh, reciepts ive seen online claim that it will have about 30-40g.

The big issue I see with it would be the lack of satiety, typically liquids don't make you feel full and may cause you to want to eat before your next meal. It's also pretty carb dense which isn't the best thing first thing in the morning. I save my carbs for before and/or after workouts.

Also if you're doing this to keep your metabolism from dying take a look at leangains.com and some of the research he has used. Basically your metabolism doesn't slow down until about 24 hours after your last meal

There's no such thing as a weight loss promoting breakfast, except if it is low in calories. Read the fat loss sticky, listen to Pantlegz, and worry more about the day as a whole rather than the breakfast.

If you are active all day the sugar will burn off. If you've lost 70 pounds I seriously doubt you are doing anything wrong. (Pics please)

And if you are worried about sugar, switch out one of the fruits for a green. But I dont think you are in trouble at all.

I would LOVE to lose 70 pounds in 7 months. Actually, that would make me too small. Maybe 50 pounds.

Most of the sugar is lactose - consisting of glucose and galactose. Frequently sucrose - consisting of fructose and glucose - is labeled as the bad for you sugar, particularly because of the fructose. Fructose from fruit tends to be pretty inert due to the fiber that comes along with it. I doubt you're getting any amount that would hurt your health.
