OK I've just got a 1MB email from someone I don't know. Subject "FW: fotos".

The attachment is a .pps file. What is this and is it 100% safe for me to open it?

First of all NOTHING is 100 % safe.

Anyway

<< OK I've just got a 1MB email from someone I don't know. Subject "FW: fotos". >>

email from somebody you don't know with attachment, meaning=no go. It's 100 % for sure....
UNSAFE TO OPEN.

.PPS is the default extension for Microsoft's Power Point Show. That would account for the size of the file. I believe you will be fine if you scan it however the key here is (You don't know this person) Dump the little begger in the can and forget it ever happened. Have a great day.

Sebfrost if you are not sure delete it,thats the only way, unless you want to wait for more info from other Members or sources,I normally delete these things if I`m not sure.

Wouldn't have thought that it was a virus, although, I guess that it could be just like Melissa as macros are enabled in PowerPoint
