when i try to hit any of the buttons on the bottom (OK, cancel, apply) of software. it hops from one to another really fast and you can't close the program. You have to use the x to close. this even happens when i go to device manager or anything that has that setup. I know this sound confusing but i'm trying to describe this the best i can.

I'm running win 98 and use avg.when I try to update avg manually. it won't let me . it seems stuck on th griwsoft.cz and will not let me go to the grisoft.com server. please help me :(.

Try going directly to that IP address (193.86.103.18) by putting the IP address into Internet Explorer's address bar, and see if that helps. If you're still having problems then try restarting in Safe Mode to see if that bypasses the virus starting itself (probably not, but it is worth trying that before reformatting the hard drive). Good luck!

when i'm in the avg control panel trying to update, pushing the update button does nothing, and it will not let me change from grisoft.cz to grisoft.com, i don't know if that matters. I've also run a manual virus check and my computer came up clean. so i know know if it is a virus or what.

How old are the virus definitions that AVG used for the manual virus check?

If you try to use the Tab key to move through buttons, instead of moving the mouse pointer to click them, does it still fly through the buttons like that? It does sound like the symptom of a virus of some kind. Do you use file-sharing software and download files that could have a virus in them, or do you do anything else that would make you a high risk for viruses (such as using a broadband Internet connection without any firewall hardware/software)?

basicly it just starts cycling through all the buttons and clicking the buttons doesn't work because the buttons are cycling too fast (that's the reason i came up with). i do download things that have the potential for virus but it all goes through avg and i do use dsl.

I know it probably won't help, but have you tried booting in Safe Mode?

You can manually download and install the latest DAT update from here .

After download is completed, move file to UPDATE subdirectory. This subdirectory is located in main AVG Free Edition directory (the directory, where you have AVG 6.0 installed).
Run AVG 6.0 Free Edition.
AVG 6.0 Free Edition will find new Update file and use it automatically
.

Also try Trend Micro Housecall it`s a free online virus scan.

I can't be the only one that's been infected by this am I? helpppppp

You don't have your mouse and keyboard plugs in the incorrect PS/2 ports by any chance? The keyboard should plug into the port that is closest to the surface of the motherboard.
