Received this email from prospective client asking for services:

Thanks for the reply,the interpreting service would be from 12noon to 4pm, the amount charged is acceptable.This is to confirm if you would be available for the mentioned time frame duration for the seven days. As regards payment, my sponsor will be instructing payment to you in advance via US Money Order,which is meant to confirm the interpreter's service charges and the cost of itinerary, which will be handled by the travelling agent. The itinerary is been handled by my travelling agent and they are yet to give me their recommendations.All other expenses such as transportation and every other expenses incurred will be taken care by us.

So , go ahead and forward me the total cost charge for the interpreter's service and the address which you would like to receive payment ,so that i can inform my sponsor the total cost for the interpreter's Service charges and the cost of the itinerary,which my sponsor will be instructing to you ASAP, to reserve a booking,ok. feel free to ask any further questions.Await you,God Bless you abundantly.


On one hand, I'm not shipping any goods, and if the money order is no good, I won't be providing any services either. On the other hand, the combination of highlighted phrases alerted me immediately...

20 bucks says that the money order will be over the value of the service and you're to kindly refund the difference.

 
Postal Money orders can't take a long time to bounce if they're not legit.

They aren't cleared through normal bank channels, where you would know of a bounce within a week.
 
I looked over the original email again (not this one), and it does look like a template with values filled in (commas, spaces in the wrong places). The sender claims to be from Africa working as a UN volunteer. Oh well, scam it is. Thanks.

To save yourself from another embarrasing ATOT post, just have your spam filter nuke anything with the words Africa or Nigeria.
