Is this a PSU failure?!

System:
Asus Maximus V Z77
CPU: i7-3770K(not overclocked yet)
PSU: OCZ Fatality 3 1000W, Corsair CXM 750W
GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 780Ti TwinFrozer OC Edition
RAM: G.Skill Ares 16GB 1866
Samsung SSD
Main Display is a 1080p HDTV so all my gaming resolutions are as such.

My system apparently eats PSU's... At least thats what I want to see if I can confirm. My original 1000W OCZ PSU seemed to be the cause of constant crash restart issues, so I replaced it with a much more conservative 750W PSU. System has worked great for about a year. It's freezing in the middle of games now. Anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes depending on the load.

While troubleshooting I have had an interesting finding that I want to run by some people.

The MoB has both an 8 pin 12V connector and a 4 pin 12V connector for my CPU power. If I use the 8 pin power, the system freezes hard in game and I have to hard boot.

If I use the 4 pin, the games will loose sound first, then I might hear windows components disconnect in the system background, I loose network connection and if I don't exit the game, after about 10 seconds the system will freeze, otherwise it stays on with no sound or network.

Can anyone confirm that this sound like a PSU, or do you think I have other issues here?

Thanks in advance!

That mobo is getting a bit old. It could have an issue.
