Ok.. I play a lot of games...

Counter-Strike.. Runs fine...

But when I play like Command And Conquer Generals.. It runs good.. but every 30 seconds less or more.. it will pause for a second.. but after the short brief pause, it runs smoothly again. I have 128mb ATI Radeon 8500.. 256mb of DDR Ram.. This game does take a lot of memory.. 256 min I think.. Could it be the ram that is making it do this? Or is it maybe something else in my system...

I hope I said this clear enough.

Hi,

In order to help work this out can you please tell us the following:

Are you playing on-line/network when this happens?
Have you tried turning down the graphics detail levels/resolution to see if this helps
Are you using the latest ATI drivers?
Do you run any other software in the background?

Good luck,

Andy

That happened to me all the time when playing a lot of new games. Guess what I did. I formatted and reinstalled everything, and now the graphics are seamless. Sometimes, it's the only answer.

In other words, it's a big video card driver problem that i don't have the time to fix, so I just format.

I first set up my system with only 256mb PC2100 DDR ram. I was playing UT2k3 and it ran very choppy.

I got 512 mb PC2700 and it ran smooth as silk.

Your problem might not be memory related, but with only 256mb, it wouldn't be surprising.
