and yes

The only reason I don't get a nforce4 Ultra is because I like all the features this Mobo has to offer including Dual Lan and the little stuff it comes with.

That MOBO seems kinda of cheap. I want one that I know will last and have read good reviews on. I'm not getting it just for the SLI.

What do you need dual onboard LAN for?

The mobo is a very good mobo at a very good price. That is why anandtech recommends it in its buyers guide. Do you think just because a board is expensive it is better? The Chaintech has tons of good reviews.

If you really need dual onboard LAN I would get the GIGABYTE GA-K8N.

I want to network this computer that I'm on with my new system so that me and my Bro can play each other in games.

I'm not saying it's a bad board all I'm saying is that it doesn't have the features the Asus board has to offer. Also the reviews on newegg give it a 4 out of 5 stars. They say it has a poor users manual and as a first build, I need a well written one. The reviews of the Asus one give it a 5 out of 5.

that or the chaintech are great boards. also, dont go buy newegg reviews, half the time their "problems" are their own fault. and i really dont understand getting an SLI mobo and not planning on using SLI. just get an nforce4 ultra chipset and save money.

You don't need dual LAN for that.

You shouldn't judge how good a product is just by newegg reviews. The manual thing from what I have heard though is true, but I don't know how bad it really is since I don't own the mobo. If it really is that bad then get the Epox NF4 Ultra which has firewire and a better manual.

Waste of money.

There is no reason to get Pro over Home for th majority of users. I suggest just saving money and getting Home as I doubt you use any of the feutures in Pro anyway.

This is what I whant in a MOBO, what should I get?

-Dual 10/100/1000 Lan
-Fire Wire
-nForce 4 Ultra chipset
-Lots of usb
-PCI Express x16

why do you need dual 1Gb LAN? just out of curiosity... why not just buy a $5 3com 905b 100Mb/s card off ebay...

I dont really I just would like it. I decide I am going to go with the GIGABYTE GA-K8N Ultra-9 Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard. Is that the right decision?

you question does not have an easy answer and depending on who you ask you will hear yes and no. gigabyte is a good brand and many use and like them, as with the other brands like abit, asus, dfi, msi, chaintech. you could save ~$40 and get this board here. for ~ $133 i would this board. it is sli, dual Gb lan and only $6 more, but get a nvidia based video card so you could use sli in the future if you wanted to, atleat a 6600GT but maybe a 6800GT or Ultra.

if anybody can see a problem with this board, could you point it out to me, it seems there are quite a bit more sli boards out there and this board @ ~$139 doesn't seem like that bad of a deal, nor does the biostar one for ~$129, again for sli.

edit:
after looking at it closer and if i was in the need of a board, i would probably go with the gigabyte sli board like i have linked to above @ $139. i have used gigabyte boards in the past including a dual p3 board and it worked flawlessly.

Yes, except x800xl and an SLI mobo makes no sense together. Get a non-sli board and save some $$$. I personally wouldnt go SLI since 6800GT PCIe is about $100 more than x800xl PCIe - not worth it.

the only reason i brought up the sli board is because it is only $6 more than the gigabyte board he listed. but go nvidia on the graphics cards, just in case.
