Is this a motherboard issue?

I am gettting random crashes during BFME2 and AOE3. Screen data remains, sounds gets corrupted and ONLY ONCE was it recoverable by VPU recovery. This error happens every time I fire up either of those games, but at random times in the game. Games with latest update, and CD/DVD in drive.

My system.
1. DFI Ultra D, latest bios from DFI. Northbridge replaced (temps dropped, SLI mod done, and graphics card in PCI express slot 2. All the jumpers moved over and motherboard recognizes PCI express speed as 8x and 8x.
2. Opteron 148 - I reduced my overclock to stock
3. OCZ titanium 2 gigs total (one gig sticks in orange slots)
4. ATI x1800xl AIW latest catalyst drivers (6.3) and NO overclock
5. Creative X-Fi music with latest driver
6. Antec phantom 500watt (has cooling fan)
7. 2 Maxtor 7L250S0 in raid zero (nv raid, loaded during Windows install)
8. Windows XP Pro updated
9. Avast virus protection
10. Adaware protection
11. Itunes and activesynch loaded
12. Temps via motherboard monitor are good
13. NEC 3540A with firmware 1.04 (official)
14. Sony floppy drive
15. Dell 2405 connected via DVI (drivers loaded)

Never any instability in any other program. Can run FEAR and HL2 with no problems whatsoever. Can run for days no issues.

I reinstalled Windows last night, no improvement.

Any ideas? I have searched the web, but maybe one of you guys knows what is happening.

I am leaning toward video card issue (it also happened with x800xl), but I have never slipstreamed drivers (nvraid) and was wondering if that was it.

Thanks

I'll leave this post, in case it helps someone else. I think that it may be to the interaction of the X-fi. You have to deselect EAX and high quality audio. I played it again and no crashes for quite some time (previously I could guarantee at least one in an hour).

Make sure AOEIII is updated with patch 1.05 not 1.04

1.04 made my computer crash sometimes when playing AOEIII.
