Is this a meteorite?

wow sure looks like one to me.

Freaky.

Maybe email NASA and tell them you have a moonrock and see if they'll tell you what it is?

That's usually blue. :Q

Magnetic usually indicates the presence of iron, cobalt or nickel. It didn't come out of a grill? 😛

Where did you find it? Tektites are fairly common btw.

Looks like it could be a meteorite. Looks almost the same as the meteorites I just saw 2 weeks ago in the American Museum of Natural History.

looks like it could be.. regardless, it's a cool lookin rock... beware of the big van across the street with the satellite dish on top of it..

It does (as mentioned in the original post). But it could be a mineral called magnetite found on Earth that also attracts magnets.

Yes, it is a meteorite. Contact an agent to help you sell it. There was a poor Hispanic family in Texas that found a meteorite on their property, and if I remember correctly, sold it for over $10,000.

Make sure you wash it throughly in a dishwasher.

being as small as it is, I doubt its worth much of anything. We used to find dozens of meteorites out in the fields behind our house when I was a kid. The key is to wait until spring right after the farmers plow the fields, which turns them up.
