Is this a hot deal for cpu/mb combo?

In todays Frys ad they have a 1ghz duron/mb combo for $99. I'm looking to build a mid range gaming rig for my daughters boy friend (future son in law?) Neither he nor I have much cash. If this isn't a hot buy then what/where shall I look to find the best bang for the least bucks? It can be with or without a case. I have a atx for pentium boards but no amd cert. ones. Help!!
I know you anandtechers are on top of it so what about helping out a fellow anandtecher?!?!

The Fry's/Outpost AMD CPU/mobo offers are great IMO. I picked up a retail Athlon XP 1800+/ECS K7S5A mobo for $169.99 more than a month ago when the Athlon XP1800+ retail was going for $130 at the cheapest. It's hard to tell though what sort of deal you have there because you didn't list the brand and model of the motherboard.

Don't assume that something is a good deal. Take the price of the two items and do a search on pricewatch.com That should give you a reference point. Also, check Newegg.com or TCWO and price the parts separately. Some prices on the internet might be cheaper, but I wouldn't personally buy from most of them because of horrible support or inflated shipping. You have to watch that carefully.

Just to let you know, I think Fry's/Outpost had a Duron 1 gig/ECS K7S5A for as little as $70 at one point, so if this is the Duron/ECS K7S5A deal, I'd say it's warm at best.
