Is this a good time to buy a laptop?

Hi,

Recently I decided that I needed a laptop, but I can wait. My question is with the economy and all the deals, is right now a good time to buy a laptop or not? The kind of laptop that I am looking for is something that could be used for pretty much everything, but not too much for gaming. Do you guys have any suggestions in brands or websites to look in? I built my pc, so I would like to have a laptop with good components, and I am willing to spend a little extra if necessary for the quality.

thanks for the suggestions,

as with anything, shop around ALOT. look for deals with rebates, or free shipping if buying off the internet, things like that. I'm not sure what your in the market for, but i've got a couple of laptops that could sell. 1.4 AMD athlon compaqs with 256 RAM. Also a Sony Vaio with a huge 15" screen, 128MB RAM, win 2K with lisence and a 20GB HDD and DVD, i think that ones $995... but definitly shop around, you want to get the specs you NEED. Toshiba is a good brand as of late, and one of the newest models with the Centrino technology is selling at best buy for $1999 with a $100 mail in rebate for a total of $1899... and its an attractive machine too, slick to use, and FAST...just dont set a bios password or your screwed if you forget it untill they get a procedure for removing it, its that new

=) good luck and happy hunting

Since you can wait, spend a good amount of time researching deals, such as at Fawallet and hot deals forums here as well as other sites. If you do shop around and get all the coupons/rebates etc you can get a nice deal.

there's been an abundance of laptops from dell at nice prices recently. just keep an eye on the hot deals forum here and the various other hot deals forums, and you should be able to get suitable one for under $1000.

What kinds of things and specs should I look for in a laptop. Things in a laptop are different because many things come integrated, but I don't know what is the norm for components in a laptop because I just get to choose what the manufacturer chooses.

thanks for the info,
