Is this a good temp ?

Hi,

I have an alpha PEP66T with the 7000RPM fan (too loud 🙁 ) and artic silver II thermal grease.

The cpu temp under full load is 3 celsius higher than MB temp.

MB temp is around 30 and CPU temp is 33.

The cpu temp with no load is 2-5 celsius lower than the MB temp.

MB temp is around 30 and CPU temp is 25-27.

Is that good temps for this setup or should it be lower ? (MB temp is high because of ambiant air, I have 3 case fan)

Sounds good in theory; but what are we running here? A Duron 600MHz or a Athlon 1.4GHz? Also, what motherboard are you running it on?

It is a PIII850 socket on a CUBX so temperature are real one.

Also, I have 3 SCSI HDD (1 10K, 2 7.2K).

That's a great temperature. My 366 celeron was running at 60C for months till I replaced the fan and heatsink. Because of the lousy design of my case, the power supply is over the CPU, so I can't get a bigger/better cooling solution. Anyway, Celerons are dirt cheap, and I intend on upgrading anyway. After I switched the fan/heatsink, my CPU runs at 48C @458mhz. Still, much cooler than before.

Sounds like your cooling system is doing its job. If the temperature is only three degrees higher than the motherboard at full load, you're doing great.
