Best Buy has a Sony VAIO for $1149

PRODUCT FEATURES

AMD Athlon? 1.0GHz processor with 200MHz system bus
128MB RAM
40.0GB Ultra ATA/100 hard drive
16x maximum speed DVD-ROM drive (40x maximum speed CD-ROM)
12x8x32 CD-RW drive
Movie editing and video e-mail
V.90 high-speed modem
i.LINK (IEEE 1394) S400 interface
10/100Base-T network card and external stereo speakers
A full line of software included (some preinstalled), featuring Sony original software and Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
Sony 17" Trinitron Monitor
Epson 777 Printer

This is going to be a recommend for a friend in Texas. I live in Utah. If we were closer, I would custom build one, but I still think I'd be hard pressed to build one with these features for that price.

If anyone knows of a better deal, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!
Nate

I won't buy sony computer,
unless you really need to use firewire immediately and don't want to buy an add-on card for that.

Anyway, the price is ok, this system is ok for non-builder.

Nothing in particular - they're just overpriced.

Their laptops kick ASS tho... :D

EDIT: Rereading the specs of your original post, I think that's an excellent deal for someone looking to get decent performance out of a prebuilt system. :)

Thanks, I think I'll recommend it. It looked good to me. Oh, I forgot to mention that it also includes 12 months of free MSN internet access.

Some integrated card. But she will not be doing any 3D gaming. (She's 60 years old and is not interested.) I think I'll check to see if it's upgradeable though.

Thanks for the comment.
