I'm contemplating whether to buy this to replace my aging IBM Thinkpad. I'm not real too big on gaming, so the Geforce 4 440MX will suffice. Anyways, here are the specs for the unit.

Compaq R3140CA - $1899.99 CAD
- AMD Athlon? 64 processor 3000+ with PowerNow!? PowerNow!? Technology (1.80GHz) and 1024KB L2 Cache
- 15.4" WXGA TFT wide viewing angle (1280 x 800) display
- 512MB DDR SDRAM (2 x 256MB) at 333MHz
- 60GB enhanced-IDE hard disk (4200rpm)
- DVD +R/RW and CD-RW combo drive
- NVIDIA ® GeForce?4 440 Go with 32MB DDR (dedicated)
- Integrated 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector) & 56k modem & integrated 802.11g wireless lan modem: I don't know why it's isn't listed on the specs page of the official notebook site, but it is in the PDF version.
- 3 Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0
- Internal speakers, JBL® Pro Performance, AC audio link.
- 120W AC adapter, 8-Cell Lithium-Ion battery
- 1 Type I/II 32-bit card bus (also supports 16-bit)
- 7.8 lbs

The only thing I don't quite get is the internal speakers, does this mean that there are no speaker vents on the laptop itself like most notebooks? If anyone has a Compaq that has these "JBL pro performance" speakers, could you please comment on the quality. Never knew that JBL made computer speakers....

So any comments about the overal quality/performance laptop?
