Is This a Good Laptop?

I like it. If I were looking for a laptop, that would definitely do the job for me. Also, I've got several friends who own HP laptops and have nothing but great comments about it.

Man, you didn't even say what you'll be using it for! If you think about gaming, forget it - "Integrated Via ProSavage AGP 3D graphics". That is one of the slowest video solutions you can get. Shared memory? Wow, that's fast too =)

But as a "regular-application" laptop (Word processing, Photoshop, etc) it should be fine, especially with the 512 MB of RAM.

One note: you absolutely must turn it on before you buy it, even if it means opening the box and plugging it in right at the store. Feel the keyboard, try to twist and press a few keys, use the pointer, see if it makes too much noise (HD + fan), try the sound, speed, resolution, color, etc. I don't know their money-back guarantee, but unless it's completely hassle-free, I would spend 30 minutes in the store torturing the poor thing.

That looks pretty good except for the Integrated Via ProSavage AGP 3D graphics, I guess if you aren't going to use it for gaming then it wouldn't be that big of a deal. None of those hp laptops that are there have very good graphics processors. YOu would be better off looking somewhere else like dell if you want to use it for gaming.
