Is this a good laptop (for the price)?

I know ecost sucks, but a friend gave me their store credit with them ($580) and I really need a laptop ASAP for heavy word processing and basic multimedia fun stuff....

Any thoughts?

it'll word process but lack in the "basic" multitasking situations. i don't know how mobile semprons are and u really need the 512mb+ ram.

It's refurb so basically the warranty is only 90 days. Sempron is not bad although I would look more into a Turion. You can actually get a brand new Sempron 3000+ laptop from Acer for almost the same price. You might want to check on ubid.com for refurb.
