Is this a good gaming LCD?

Apparently my Samsung SyncMaster 793DF is biting the dust, so I'm looking for a cheap replacement. I found this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16824163115

I know response time ratings on LCDs are about as reliable as noise ratings on fans, but 3ms with GTG still doesn't sound that bad. The resolution is as large as I will ever need, view angle is irrelevant in my case, the 75Hz refresh rate is what I already use and I'm happy with it, and I'm really not sure if I care about any of the other specs since I'm not a graphics freak by any stretch of the word. It is, however, dirt cheap, which is a big plus. And for what it's worth, the newegg reviews are excellent.

Anyone got any experience with this monitor? Will it be a decent replacement for the 793DF?

what is the highest ms a gamer should stop at for a LCD?

0.

Seriously there is no real number to stop at, that number does not take into account input lag..

One of the fastest panels out there right now is the LG 227

Also @OP anything under 8ms is fine for most people (it used to be the benchmark). 75Hz is useless on a LCD monitor, 60Hz is almost always reccomended

I mean, the highest as in 5 6 ... before ghosting occurs

There will always be ghosting... unless it actually is 0 ms which is at this point impossible

True, but isn't it better to be capped at a higher FPS in games?

It won't change your FPS...
I know that, but if the machine is powerful enough to process 60+ frames per sec, then those extra frames are lost when the monitor is running at 60 Hz, no?

theoretically yes, but eyes normally won't be able to pick out those extra frames
60hz means your screen refreshes at that rate whether or not the frames are going that fast
75Hz means the screen is refreshing at that rate even if there are not enough frames, on a modern lcd you will not see a difference

most lcd's HAVE 75hz available for selection but will still run at almost 60Hz with frame skipping
