GPU - Geforce Windforce Gaming 1060 6gb
Hard Drive - 1TB
Memory - 8gb

Im looking to play games such as overwatch, skyrim, cod and some battlefield on 1080p with High - Ultra settings. I also have a Radeon R7 graphics card that came with the built desktop but im changing it out for a GTX 1060 6gb can you sli them or something like that ( I probably sound dumb but im new haha )

Already bought the pc but can change parts if there is a good value part thats better.

Unfortunately, the new twist in NVidia model-line features excludes all but the GTX 1070 and 1080 cards from use in 2xSLI.

I'm not even sure if you can configure three, but there's either nothing extra in performance or performance actually drops off.

The GTX 1070 I used was a Gigabyte single-fan "short" card "OC Mini." The stubby little thing is fitted with 8GB of RAM.

So here's what I'll tell you. With 6GB of RAM on the GTX 1060 card you chose, you should be fine with 1080p gaming -- no less for "High-Ultra" settings. And I think you can overclock that card. If the Windforce is also a Gigabyte card, I'll only say their Extreme Tuning Engine software is OK -- gives the same options more or less that you'd find in Precision Tune, Afterburner or ASUS GPU Tweak. I used the XTE software just to get an idea what I can expect from the card. Then I uninstalled it and installed Afterburner just because I like the GUI better.

The 1060 might be more than adequate for 1440p or 2560x1440. Especially if you can get a reasonable overclock over that puppy.

I myself am at a crossroads about SLI, because while benchtests show the 1070 scales well with two cards for 4K gaming, an OC'd 1070 can match a stock 1080 and there's no need for SLI. I'm not that eager to replace my BenQ 1080p gaming monitor, so . . . .

The CPU will probably end up holding you back. If you don't already own / haven't already purchased it you might want to wait for AMD to release Zen or look for i3/i5 Intel system. Even if you don't buy Zen it should drive down prices on Intel's stuff.

Possibly the worst time to build a PC since new hardware is just around the corner (AMD ZEN). If it fits your budget, I would try to get a i5 6xxx series and a compatible motherboard as it would vastly outperform the CPU you bought. Everything else looks solid especially since you're gaming at 1080p. You also do not want to SLI or crossfire (AMD) at 1080p as scaling is atrocious at that resolution and would be a waste of money.

Perfect point.

Amen to that, brother. And that's what I heard -- scaling was atrocious for lower resolutions. 1440p is something like "right at the breakeven point." For that, I'm probably going to get a BenQ XL2730Z -- whichever unit has the S-switch, the 27" diagonal, 144Hz refresh rate, and 2560x1440 resolution. Later. during the next year.

Few weeks ago looked at BenQ XL2720T because it's muck more cheaper :) As for the 2730z it's good also and the price is good from what i remember:) Cheers
