That actually is a pretty solid deal. I just built my PC about a month ago (see specs in sig). Mine came up to $1900 CDN (including taxes and shipping and everything). Granted, mine includes a monitor and I could have shaved off about $300 by using a cheaper motherboard (I wanted dual x16 PCI-e lanes so I had to go 790FX) and PSU (...I needed modular haha). But I didn't want to skimp on my main rig, so I went with quality components. Not sure if you'll get the same with Gateway.

I'd say build your own, but this is not a bad deal by any stretch (and you get a shitload of ram for some reason haha).

Those have to be 4GB sticks to reach the full 16GB. That adds about 6-800$ just in memory. You could resell those sticks for at least 125$ each, and since you only need 8GB at most that should knock at least 250$ off. I see newegg carries this same sytem (at least in the US) for 100$ less. As well as some other comparable systems for cheaper. I see a cyberpower system with 4GB and a better 5870 for under 1500$.

If those arent available though, I think that price isnt terrible (200$ cheaper would be good). It is pre built, has a 5850, and and OS, and you could pawn off some of the memory to reduce the cost.
