Intel 1.1GHz Celeron CPU
512 MB RAM
20GB HDD
DVD-ROM / CDRW
2 PCMCIA Slots
2 USB ports
10/100, Modem
SVGA and RCA Out
14.1 inch screen

$650, from a co-worker.

I inspected the unit today and it looks perfect, and he says that it has around a 1.5 hour battery life.

Yeah, I'd put a few more $$$ into it and get a little better one. Or just pick up one of the $699 AR laptops from BB or CC.

$650 for that used laptop seems cold to me.

I was able to price a brand new Dell Latitude C400 for $1029 after $100 MIR w/ a PIII 1.2GHz, 512MB RAM, CD-RW/DVD, internal wireless card and 30GB HDD. For $350 more, I think I would rather have a new unit w/ a warranty.

Thanks for slapping some sense into me!

for that price you can still do tons better.
why P3 1.2 GHz? no P4? or cetrino maybe? for that price you can at least get some nice P4's at much higher clock speeds.

Centrino is basically the next revision of P3. A P3 1.2 is still a quick system.

I priced an Inspiron 1100 P4 2.4GHz 15in XGA 512MB CD-RW/DVD, 60GB for $1100. Worth it for a bulkier laptop? This Inspiron also doesn't give the option for internal miniPCI wireless cards...

wait, the 1100 does NOT give the option for minipci? are you sure?

i have the 5100 which uses the same body as the 1100, and i have an internal minipci slot (thats filled of course)
