Is this a good deal? Dish Network

A reseller came by my house and offerred to set me up with Dish Network-America's Top 100 plus all our local channels on 4 TVs for $49.99/mo. He will install all the equipment for free. Totally free, with a 1 year commitment. Additionally, he will rebate the 49.99 activation fee and the first 4 months of service on the bill. In other words, I will pay him 49.99 at the time of installation and not have a bill until May. Sounds like about a $250 rebate.

I will have a bill of $16.95 until then, but that's for 13 movie channels, which can be cancelled at the end of the special.

Additionally, he says he'll give me a 100 hour PVR for free and the only cost will be 4.95/mo. He says this is worth $199??? Another nice rebate???

He also says he'll give me a lifetime "all perils" warranty that even covers acts of God.

This sounds almost too good to be true, so I'm a little skeptical, but he says he'll put everything in writing, so I'm seriously considering this.

I've read here that it's not a good thing to deal with satellite resellers, but I don't exactly undersatnd why, except that they can go out of business. He says all the agreements concerning this will be from Dish Network???

If you can give me any useful advice concerning this, I surely would appreciate it!

Thanks, Rick

Isn't that their standard deal?

Like up to 3 rooms with top 100 channels for 32 something or top 50 for like 25 with free install, first 4 months free with HBO and free recorder?

EDIT: Here's a scan from one of my local papers. scan

Go to Everyone then dishtv. Its a little small but my upload at work is weak and I don't want to slow down the net for everyone. The plan for 33.99 reads America's Top 100.

To me, it sounds like you're getting ripped off.
