dont use generic power supplies, look for something like a tagan u22 or a pcp&c 470w. it would be better to get an opteron 170 or 165 if you're overclocking. you wouldn't want sli, so replace that with an epox 9npa ultra. get 1x1024 corsair value select instead whether or not you're overclocking, difference between value and high end ram doesnt go very far on an amd. try to squeeze in a 7800gt from bfg or evga or xfx. seagate's are better choice since they perform well all around and has 5 year warranty. stick with integrated sound for a while until you can purchase an audigy 2 or if you dont really care too much about sound, then thats fine.

I agree 100%, get a very, very high quality PSU. I got the PC power and cooling turbo 510 SLI, and did my build yesterday. The voltages are absolutely rock steady. Very expensive for a PSU, but this is the single one area you don't want to skimp on.

You want a reliable and rock steady mobo? get a high quality PSU....my opinion.

Some suggestions:

-Change the case to a Coolermaster Centurion 5
-Get a Seasonic 500W PSU
-Get 2GB of Value RAM instead of 1GB of Performance
-Knock the CPU down to a X2 4000+ to save cash
-Used saved cash to upgrade video card to a 7800GT
-SLI is a waste of money, change mobo to a EPoX 9NPA+ Ultra

Make sure that whatever PSU you get, it is of extremely high quality. I cannot tell how many horror stories there have been from people who have gone cheap on their PSU and have had it crap out on them within a month. Good brands to look for:

Seasonic
Sparkle
Antec
OCZ
PC Power & Cooling
FSP (Fortron)

The other thing is the RAM. Performance RAM is nice, but you could still squeeze some tight timings out of value RAM, and it will work out better if you overclock.

although the centurion 5 is a great case, it should be his decision since this piece is personal preferences. again to the s-12 500w, good prodtuct, not neccessary. even the $50 fortron 450w can handle that system. the psu doesnt have to be "extremely" high quality, but more like quality enough to sustain exceptional rail voltages. unless he's a hardcore gamer and must have high quality settings, the 1x1024 will suffice for now and upgrade later when money is surely available. theres no such thing as an x2 4000. i still suggest the opteron 170/165.
