Is this a good choice of upgrades?

I currently have an AMD Athlon x2 4400++ paired with an Asus A8N-VM CSM

Here's what I was planning on adding, and was hoping to get some feedack on whether it's my best bet and whether there are any compatibility issues: (I looked on the ATI site and can't find any compatiility info =x)

Also, in the system now I have the following ram: (Got this data from sisoft sandra)

Total Memory: 4GB DDR-SDRAM
Memeory Bus Speed: 2 x 157 mhz (314 mhz data rate)

Is that ram considered to be really bad? Would it be a good idea to replace it? I used to use this machine to host CS servers so I went sfor some pretty cheap ram when I bought it.

That is a LOT of memory, more than you need almost definitely. Going down to 2 1GB sticks may allow you to run dual channel and attain a higher overclock too.

On the surface this appears to be very slow - I have never even heard of DDR314, I thought the minimum was 400. However, when I raise the reference clock on my A64 and put a memory divider on, it still shows the memory speed as the default (200) * the multiplier. A divider of 4/5 would result in a displayed speed of about 320 while actually running 4 or 500...

With 8800GTX/GTS coming out Nov 8 (maybe 1-2 weeks wait for Canada), it would be not a very smart move to drop $550 on X1950XTX.

What is your current power supply? If you psu has 30A on 12V rail or more, there is no need to get a new one.

X1950XTX simply doesn't justify the price premium over 7950GT or X1900XT 512mb or even X1900XT 256mb. If you do intend to spend $550 on a graphics card, I suggest waiting for 8800GTS.

It'll have 384-bit memory interface, 640mb of ram, 96 shaders, 128-bit HDR, HDR + AA capability (unlike current G71 series).

whoa nelly, you don't need that much ram. Video card seems like a good choice though you might wanna check out the G80.
